Jaishree Raman joined the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) in Johannesburg, South Africa, in 2014 to continue her research on the emergence and spread of antimalarial drug resistance in Africa. As part of the NICD’s commitment to building capacity within South Africa, Jaishree is involved in developing and facilitating malaria diagnostic training courses for malaria health workers and post-graduate researchers. Jaishree is also a member of the South African Malaria Elimination Committee (SAMEC), a technical advisory committee which advises the South African Malaria Directorate on policies associated with malaria elimination. Furthermore, Jaishree is a member of the Research Constituency of the Southern Africa Regional Network–Roll Back Malaria (SARN–RBM) partnership, which promotes research collaborations and capacity development among Southern African Development Communities countries. In 2014, Jaishree joined the Plasmodium Diversity Network Africa (PDNA), an African-led research network investigating genetic diversity and drug resistance of malaria parasites.
